Richard Fuchs received his M.A.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo and his B.Sc. in Engineering Physics (double major in Electrical Engineering and Honors Physics) from the University of Alberta, both leading Canadian universities. He graduated with distinction from both institutions. Richard holds a patent as principal inventor, has authored a number of peer reviewed papers in which he has appeared as both first and contributing author and has written dozens of technical papers.
Richard has received 14 undergraduate scholarships in Engineering Physics and was selected as recipient of the Apegga Gold Medal in Engineering Physics and The Henry Birks and Sons Limited Medal in Engineering. Both are extremely prestigious awards, the former for recognition as the student with the highest GPA in Engineering Physics and the latter for recognition as the student with the highest GPA in the entire faculty of Engineering. In addition, Richard was selected for the NSERC 67 scholarship for graduate studies (a very prestigious scholarship awarded to only a few candidates across Canada each year). Richard also received an NSERC PGSA scholarship, an NOI Fellow scholarship and three graduate scholarships from the University of Waterloo.
