SIRA Students attends Model United National 2018 conference @ Seoul, South Korea.

Tuhel Ahmed, a SIRA junior student attended Asia World Model United Nation (AWMUN 2018) conference from August 11^th-16^th at Coex Convention Center, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea. Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational simulation and academic activity platform where students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. MUN involves and teaches participants public speaking, debating, writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. Out of nearly 10,000 application for AWMUN 2018, only 250 delegates were selected from 30 countries. Mr. Ahmed expressed his satisfaction in getting this chance.

Mr. Ahmed said “Though I am from technical background student, I am equally interested in international issues. Through this conference, I have learned many things that are generally not taught in the classrooms, I have also developed leadership skills that are essential for 4^th industrial revolution era”. Further, he adds, “l would like to thank SIRA department chair Prof. Binayak Bhandari for constantly inspiring me and supporting me in every step.” 

During closing ceremony, Mr. Tuhel Ahmed recited his poem in four different languages: Korean, Indonesian, Bangla and English. Mr. Tuhel Ahmed was also awarded the ‘Best Diplomatic Commendation’ on SPECPOL at AWMUN.

SIRA 3학년 재학생인 Tuhel Ahmed는 8월 11일부터 16일까지 서울 강남구 코엑스 컨벤션 센터에서 열리는 Asia World Model United Nation(AWMUN2018) conference에 참석했습니다. Model United Nation(MUN)은 학생들이 외교, 국제관계, 유엔에 대해 배울 수 있는 교육 시뮬레이션 및 학술 활동 플랫폼입니다. MUN은 참가자들에게 비판적 사고, 팀워크, 리더십 능력 외에 연설, 토론, 작문 기술을 가르칩니다. AWMUN 2018 지원 1만 건 중 30개국에서 250명만 선발했습니다. Ahmed 학생은 이 기회를 얻어 만족스러움을 표현했습니다.

 Ahmed 학생은 "공학을 전공하는 학생이지만 국제적인 이슈에도 역시 관심이 많으며, 이번 학회에서 강의실에서 배우지 않은 것들을 배울 수 있었고, 4차 산업혁명 시대에 필수적인 리더십 기술을 향상시킬 수 있었다." 라고 하였습니다. 그리고 "SIRA 학과장인 Binayak Bhandari 교수님이 지속적으로 나에게 영감을 주고, 매 단계마다 나를 지원해 준 것에 대해 감사하다."라고 덧붙였습니다.

폐막식에서 Tuhel Ahmed 학생은 한국어, 인도네시아어, 뱅골어 및 영어의 네 가지 언어로 시를 낭송했습니다. Ahmed 학생은 AWMUN에서 '최고의 외교 표창'을 수상했습니다.
